We are having a captive power plant of 9 MW bagasse-based power. We are planning to implement another co-gen power plant to produce 12 MW of bagasse-based power which will be exported to the State Power Grid. Since we had enhanced the crushing capacity of the plant from 2500 TCD to 7000 TCD, we have surplus bagasse for cogeneration of electricity. Since the bagasse has a high heat factor, it can be used in the generation of electricity, which will substitute the conventional thermal alternative and eliminates the emission of greenhouse gases.

At present, the sugar mills generate the power as per their own requirements from bagasse-fired boilers. The government of India and State Governments have begun to encourage the co-generation of power from bagasse and giving subsidy.
